Jalen Suggs will miss the remainder of MGM Resorts 2021 NBA Summer League after an MRI confirmed a sprained left thumb.
The injury occurred during Thursday’s loss to the Boston Celtics. Suggs played 11 minutes and registered six points, two rebounds and two steals before exiting.
Selected fifth overall by the Orlando Magic in last month’s draft, Suggs impressed during his first taste of Summer League, recording 24 points, nine boards, three blocks and two steals in his debut. He averaged 15.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games in Las Vegas.
Suggs should be fine as training camp approaches. Camp opens Sept. 28 and the first preseason game is at Boston on Oct. 4.
