After tearing her UCL in her right thumb during the team’s victory over Los Angeles Saturday, Lynx guard will miss extended time after undergoing surgery.
Ten weeks would mean Powers would be out until late August. But luck may be on her side, as the summer Olympic games and the month-long break the WNBA is taking during that time, Powers could return to action with regular season games left on the schedule.
Powers, who was signed by the Minnesota Lynx this offseason, missed five games because of a left hamstring injury. She finally returned to the lineup Saturday against the Sparks. Now’s she sidelined again.
With the Lynx this season, Powers is averaging 10 points, 3.5 assists, and 4.8 rebounds. The Lynx begin their final stretch of eight regular season games on Aug. 31.
